Klamath Riverkeeper

A million salmon used to return annually to spawn on the Klamath River, but those numbers have dwindled due to dams and diversions, pollution, agriculture, and mining. Though populations have lessened, the Klamath River, still hosts the highest diversity of anadromous fish in California. Partnering with Klamath River tribes, fishermen, and recreational groups, Klamath Riverkeeper works to restore water quality and fisheries throughout the watershed through policy advocacy, grassroots outreach and education, water quality monitoring, and scientific needs analysis. Much of Ryan’s episode was filmed on a tributary that flows into the Klamath as he sought to find out if the rumors of steelhead returning were true.
